Please provide us with your suggestions for keynote speakers at the 2013 Wine Bloggers Conference. Each year, we generally have two keynote speakers (we see no reason to limit this to one) and have had some fantastic people as keynote speakers over the years, including:
- Gary Vaynerchuk (founder of Wine Library TV)
- Alice Feiring (wine writer and blogger)
- Chris Alden (CEO of Six Apart, a blogging tech company)
- Barry Schuler (ex-CEO of AOL and a vineyard owner)
- Jim Gordon (editor of Wines & Vines magazine)
- Steve Heimoff (blogger and writer for Wine Enthusiast magazine)
- Lettie Teague (writer for the Wall Street Journal)
- Jancis Robinson (wine writer for the Financial Times and more)
- Eric Asimov (wine writer for the New York Times)
- Randall Grahm (winery owner and blogger)
- Rex Pickett (author of Sideways)
To suggest someone, please either leave a comment on this post or send an email to allan at winebloggersconference.org. Please keep in mind these realities:
- We would love to have at least one Canadian speaker for our first-ever Canadian-based WBC, so pull out your “famous Canadians” suggestions.
- It is not necessary but much more helpful if you have heard speak or actually have a connection with the person you are recommending. We have invited Robert Parker to speak at the conference every year and have never been successful, so the person who pulls that off will get a standing ovation.
- We generally look for a speaker who has a connection to blogging, writing, or technology in addition to wine.
Thanks for any suggestions you can provide!
I am inquiring if you are still in search of speakers for your winebloggers conference. I meet all your requirements: (1) I love and know a fair amount about wine and (2) I am a professional speaker on a wide range of topics related to media and social media. I can customize a presentation to your needs and have many references, testimonials, and referrals. I am also a published author of (soon-to-be) six books and a former television news correspondent at both the local and national levels, including CNN. My site is tonysilvia.wordpress.com
Please let me know if you have interest. I’d very much like to work with you!
Tony Silvia
Great idea!
Mo Stegall would be a great speaker visit http://www.mostegall.com
I’m a professional speaker and blogger that has given hundreds of presentations and made hundreds of media appearances. For tape, topics and testimonials, please view here: http://www.markgrimm.com/WhatWeOffer/paid_speaker.php
I do a fun keynote “Confidence Uncorked – the sober truth about liquid courage” . Not wine specifically but I’m an enthusiasts who can definitely keep up! (with your blog at least!) More info if interested.
I second Natalie, she’s great.
I have a few suggestions for consideration, in no particular order:
– Beppi Crosariol, writer with Globe & Mail (10 years);
– Remy Charest, active blogger and wine/food writer, editor with Palate Press
– David Lawrason, Wine Access magazine founder, co-founded Canadian Wine Awards
Local tech founder of Hootsuite, Ryan Holmes is a good speaker and his product is one of those that many know and use for both facebook and twitter.
Thanks for your suggestion!
Jancis was a superb Keynote speaker in Virginia at WBC11. We loved having her! Thanks!
2 great suggestions – thanks!
Wow – he would be great!!
Thanks, Leeann!
TDM is an interesting option; however, non-Canadians might know Natalie MacLean more. Both a best-selling wine author and an engaging speaker, I think she’d be a welcome addition.
if you can entice Jancis Robinson, you’d love her. She’s a superb speaker … and her presence would certain attract world wine media to pay attention. She’s become a keen Tweeter and blogs well and often.
I tweeted Dan Aykroyd. We’ll see if he responds.
I was also going to suggest Terry David Mulligan. He is an active voice for wine in Canada and abroad. He recently released an autobiography, was named Broadcaster of the Year, is co host of Hollywood and Vines and as Roslyne says, is host of Tasting Room Radio. He also actively campaigns to free grapes across provincial borders.
How about Terry David Mulligan of the Tasting Room Radio? Not only does he have a keen interest and understanding of the BC and Canada wine industry, he has experience with public speaking.
