It is 7:30 PM in Sonoma County. We completed the Kick Ranch Vineyard Tasting and Lunch, which participants most frequently described as “awesome”. Apparently, Kick Ranch and its associated wineries outdid themselves.
Next was the first-ever Live Wine Blogging session. This was an incredible event where 15 wineries poured in a “speed dating” style for all the participants. The result? The Wine Blogger Conference was ranked number two on Twitter behind only Barack Obama!
We then rolled right into the Blind Tasting Challenge, a test of the bloggers’ skills. After three rounds of identifying grapes, matching label descriptions to wines, and guessing vintages, we were left with six semifinalists: Ken Hoggins, Bob Asher, Michael Wangbickler, Doug Cook, Jessica Yadegaran, and Arthur Przebinda. The six did a written description of a wine with the finalists being Doug, Bob, and Michael. Doug Cook from Able Grape took the Top Blogger honors with a final oral description of a wine. Congratulations, Doug!
Congratulations to the six finalists, and most especially to Doug!! Clearly your studies are paying off 😉
Can’t wait to hear about today’s events, which I trust will be equally as ‘awesome’!
