We are very proud to announce that wine writer Jancis Robinson will be delivering the keynote speech at the 2011 North American Wine Bloggers Conference.
In contacting Jancis and asking whether she would be available, Jancis responded within two hours and said “I would love to meet the American wine blogging community”. The feeling is mutual!
The topic of Jancis’ speech is yet to be decided and we would like input from wine bloggers and other attendees. Please leave a comment on this post if you have any suggestions for topics you would like to hear Jancis cover.
In case you don’t already know it, Jancis’ official bio:
“One of a handful of wine communicators with an international reputation, Jancis Robinson writes daily for JancisRobinson.com (voted first-ever Wine Website of the Year in the Louis Roederer International Wine Writers Awards 2010), weekly for The Financial Times, and bi-monthly for a column that is syndicated around the world. She is also editor of The Oxford Companion to Wine and co-author with Hugh Johnson of The World Atlas of Wine, each of these books recognised as a standard reference worldwide. An award-winning tv presenter, she is invited all over the world to conduct wine events and act as a wine judge. In 1984 she was the first person outside the wine trade to pass the rigorous Master of Wine exams and in 2003 she was awarded an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen, on whose cellar she now advises.”
I couldn’t have dreamt of a better speaker. Splendid! Ms. Robinson might be particularly well-positioned, I think, to address the practicalities of switching between the very different worlds of informal blogging, more formal newspaper contributions, and more rigid book publications.
Congrats! What a get for WBC 2011! Here’s a topic: “What role can bloggers play in bringing the culture of wine and food (and their blend?) to their local community?
