We are excited to offer you a final chance to celebrate the weekend, with a Sunday post-conference lunch put on by the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins du Languedoc. You’ll be able to enjoy a little bit of the South of France in Portland, Oregon as you sample the AOC wines of Laguedoc along with Oregonian riffs on local Languedoc specialties such as cassoulet.
The Languedoc region, in the far south of France, is the largest wine region in France. The wines showcase elements of “garrigue” – a group of herbs that grow wild in the region and perfume the air and wines. These include rosemary, thyme, juniper, lavender and sage. This makes the wines exceptional partners to all kinds of food and should make for a fantastic lunch.
Grapes grown in the area are both familiar and not so known – Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan for the reds and Picpoul, Mauzac, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne for the whites.
One of the things we love about the Wine Bloggers Conference is introducing you, our attendees, to all sorts of new wines and regions of the world. Situated on the sun-baked Mediterranean shores, the Languedoc-Roussillon region spans some 222 kilometers of coastline, from the Camargue to the Spanish border. Languedoc features farmland and countryside, beaches and vineyards, and it is this diversity combined with a colorful mix of French and Catalonian influences that underpins the unique quality of the region’s wines.
So before you leave Portland for the weekend, make sure to stay around for this special Sunday lunch. For more information about the regions and the wines, please visit http://languedocadventure.com.
