We sip, we blog – it is what we do. But every so often, we need to go out and feel the magic. Navarra, Spain is an ancient Kingdom that produced wine before France became a country! It has modern wineries with historic vineyards and wine families. It is known throughout Spain as having some of the best cuisine in the country. The region is already famous for producing some of the world’s best rosé, and now their whites and reds are being widely discovered.
You can hear these things, but to actual see them, feel them and taste locally, is to really know them. You need to see the Medieval villages, see the castles, see the famous pilgrimage route that runs through the region, taste the local cuisine, talk to and taste wines with the winemaking families … and then you will know Navarra, Spain.
Isn’t it time to go to Navarra? Wines of Navarra thinks so and that is why they are going to help one eligible wine blogger make it happen in the form of a contest at the 2011 Wine Bloggers Conference in Charlottesville, Virginia. One registered wine blogger in attendance at the conference with an active, personal wine blog (one unaffiliated with a specific winery or brands) will win a spot on a September 18 -23, 2011 media trip to the kingdom that includes airfare, hotel and meals. The winner needs to be available on the set dates of the trip so check your calendar now.
Eligible wine bloggers should register for the travels at the Meet the Sponsors table on Friday, July 22nd between 10:00am and 12:45pm. Then taste some wine and post about it either on www.twitter.com/navarrawine (using the hashtag #navarrawine) or post a comment on www.Facebook.com/winesofnavarra . Once you show a representative of Wines of Navarra your published post, you will be given a contest entry card. Just write down your name, wine blog url and your email address, and-as long as you have an active, personal, non-winery or brand specific blog– you are in the running. You can show your published entries to the Wines of Navarra representative at any time before 4:45pm on Friday, July 22.
The contest will be closed to new entry cards at 5:00pm that day. Wines of Navarra will just make sure you have an active, personal blog, and if so, your entry is good to go! One entry per eligible wine blogger. Bloggers will be asked to create several posts on his or her blog about the region of Navarra, its people, its wines—the experience of visiting the region. One contest entry card will be pulled at random at the podium of the Wine Blogger Conference’s closing ceremony on Sunday, July 24th and one wine blogger will leave the conference with a trip to Navarra, Spain in their pocket.
