Rose has had an amazing career in the media and wine industries and we are thrilled to have him speak at the 2020 Wine Media Conference on “Photo Tips for Making Your Wine Blog Pop”. And George seems to be thrilled as well. Here is what he relayed to us, which I think sums up the spirit of the conference quite nicely:
This will be my fourth conference. I’m very excited about seeing many of my friends and former colleagues. The wine media (bloggers in particular) are a very tight-knit group of individuals. More than 100 of my social media friends were made at my first conference in Santa Barbara County. Though not necessarily a writer, I’ve always considered myself to be a visual wine media person, having worked as a wine industry communications spokesperson and as a photographer working within that industry. I’m always excited to hear their stories. I’ve alway believed that a story is sometimes best told in pictures, or, at the very least, that a few well-chosen words can be improved by a visually arresting image. It is for this reason I volunteered to speak at the upcoming conference. It makes no difference whether you write about wine for the Portland Oregonian or you have a wine blog with a few hundred followers…well-executed photography can elevate your story. I look forward to seeing everyone in Eugene, OR, this August.
I think one of the most amazing aspects of George’s personality is how humble he is. So when you are attending the 2020 Wine Media Conference and standing next to George, just remember you are standing next to a wine industry rock star.
