The Angove family produce a wide range of premium wines from vineyards across South Australia’s premium growing regions with a focus on Organics and McLaren Vale, where their beautiful cellar door is located. The family are committed to sustainable vineyard management and are one of the most significant organic grape growers and winemakers in Australia.

The range of wines crafted from this idyllic location include The Medhyk Old Vine Shiraz, Warboys Single Vineyard wines, and Family Crest range that leads you on a discovery of winemaking styles and varieties.
The company is committed to remaining privately owned and operated, with the 5th generation of the business committed to driving the business forward and building on over 130 years of winemaking excellence.
We invite you to join Tony Ingle, Chief Winemaker as he takes us on a journey of discovery through a tasting of the unique Hopes End Brandy Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon and two vertical tastings of premium wines from their cellars.
Hopes End Brandy Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon was created with the fusion of two of the Angove family’s greatest assets – the St Agnes Distillery that sits adjacent to the winery and an exceptional supply of delicious Cabernet Sauvignon. The St Agnes Distillery is home to Australia’s most highly awarded and number one selling brandy St Agnes. Three times the distilleries St Agnes XO’s have been awarded Best Brandy in the World at international Wine and spirit competitions. It was only natural that a collaboration between the winemakers and distillers would evolve as the global interest in wines finished in different spirit cask steadily grew. The just released Hopes End Brandy Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon has spent 30 days of extra maturation in barrels that have previously been quietly and patiently ageing St Agnes brandy. This extra time has imparted a richness in the final wine and is unique in the World.
The first wine vertical will be Angove McLaren Vale Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre. Grenache and Grenache based blends have found a “new” home in McLaren Vale where it was traditionally used to make fortified wines. The moderate “Mediterranean” climate is perfect for growing these Rhone varieties where they produce vibrant, deliciously aromatic and flavour packed wines that have been shown to age gracefully. The Angove McLaren Vale GSM is sourced from well-established vineyards across McLaren Vale and gives an in depth look at the modern, food friendly wines that are now being created in this idyllic region.
Following this, Tony will narrow in on the superb vineyard and microclimate of the Angove Warboys Single Vineyard Shiraz with three vintages of this extremely limited wine. Sourced from ancient warrior vines that are over 80 years old both the vineyard and wines are certified both organic and biodynamic and made using the best of old and new world techniques in the 100 year old Vintage House of the Angove Winery – hand sorting, natural ferments, hand plunging, pigeage and basket pressing are just some of the techniques employed in crafting this rare and exquisite wine.
You can join Angove Family Winemakers for their Wine Education Session during the conference at 3:30 pm on Thursday, October 10th. For a full Agenda, please click here.
