Get a taste of the Hunter Valley Good Life at the 2019 Wine Media Conference Welcome Event at Brokenwood Wines on Thursday, October 10th at 6:00 pm. Our host venue is a newly built ultra-modern facility which was awarded as the 2019 Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year.
You’ll have a chance to meet some Living Legends of the Hunter Valley’s wine industry. Around 20 men and women have been inducted into this ‘hall of fame’ – all people who have served the Hunter Valley with distinction, and contributed significantly to the evolution of our grapes, wine and wine tourism development.
They will gather on this evening to individually share their stories with you. You’ll recognise them by their distinctive red ribboned medallions.
Meet them and hear their stories, as between them they have many life times of experience of how the Hunter Valley has grown, our occasional weather struggles and our many triumphs. All while you sip on a glass of Hunter Valley wine, and enjoy some of our fine food.
Fifteen local producers will be showcasing a range of their premium wines, with our world acclaimed semillon’s taking centre stage.
“Hunter Valley Semillon is one of Australia’s great gifts to the world of wine.” – Jancis Robinson, Wine Writer.
The Hunter Valley has also led the resurgence in chardonnays as a much more approachable, fruit driven variety, and our shiraz will surprise many with its medium bodied, savoury characteristics.
A ‘grazing’ menu will be prepared for the evening by Hunter Culinary stalwart Andy Wright from his The Wood Restaurant. Only freshly shucked oysters and Hunter Valley semillon can best highlight the marriage of food and wine – and there will be plenty of oysters!
Suckling pig ‘pork sliders’ will be supplemented by paella served from Andy’s signature giant paella pan, prepared in the cellar door for all to see.
By the end of the evening guests will be ready for the rest of the conference armed with some freshly gained knowledge of the Hunter Valley’s history and our wines.
This event and roundtrip transport is included in your conference registration but requires pre-registration for planning purposes. Register here by Oct. 7.
