It’s officially Day 1 at the 2021 Wine Media Conference in Eugene, Oregon but that doesn’t mean the party just started. Read more about WMC activities the week leading up to the conference.
Monday
Monday kicked off our first of three pre-conference excursions. Attendees had the opportunity to visit the Umpqua Valley. Attendees were able to experience the most diverse wine growing region of Oregon. Spanning 40 miles in width and 60 miles in length, the Umpqua Valley AVA sits south of the Willamette Valley AVA and north of the Rogue Valley AVA.
Tuesday
Tuesday marked the start of our second and third pre-conference excursions. Attendees had the opportunity to experience the Ribbon Ridge AVA or the sold old trip to Southern Oregon. Ribbon Ridge is the smallest AVA in Oregon with only 500 planted acres and one of the most prestigious wine growing regions in the world. Ribbon Ridge is the most decorated AVA with 90+ scores according to Wine Advocate. In 2017, 88% (or 29 of 33) of the Ribbon Ridge wines were rated 90+, 89% of which were pinot noir. Those who attended the Southern Oregon Excursion spend three days off the well-beaten wine path exploring Southern Oregon’s growing region, natural splendor, charming small towns, and endless adventures.
Wednesday
Pre-conference excursions were still in full force. Each excursion was 3 days, 2 nights, and packed FULL of education and wine tastings.
Thursday
WMC festivities kicked off with the Welcome Reception & Expo by Travel Lane County. Small delicious bites were served along with wines from the local area and some international. So much fun and great to see everyone’s smiling faces again. Much needed!
